*Note your facility must already be licensed in TLR in order to register attendees. You will be invoiced after the training session.

Description

TLR trainers are certified to teach general participant sessions. To become a TLR trainer, candidates must:

- have job duties that allow for the time to prepare for and provide TLR training sessions, support and follow-up with workers

- have effective skill and ability to educate others, at every level within an organization

- have effective observation, listening and clear communication skillls

- complete the TLR Train the Trainer (TTT) course which is normally three (3) full days. This course includes the requirement of:

- participating in discussions

- practice and return demonstration of assessment process, safe moving techniques and necessary documentation and communication

- understanding of effective coaching/mentoring

- acquire competency in teaching, coaching and evaluating participants in the following:

- risk assessment process

- moving techniques

- appropriate documentation

- communication

- practical return demonstration

- support the standards of the TLR program

To maintain a trainer status, trainers must:

- attend a trainer re-certification session at least once every three years; and,

- teach a classroom general participant session or re-evaluation session at least once a year.

(The NAW Building is beside Saskatoon City Hospital, just after the 4-way stop towards the river (Spadina Crescent). From the NAW Building, you can see Saskatoon City Hospital’s main road leading to their front doors.)

 

Training Room:

- Please use the main door facing Queen Street (the glass doors on the right of the building labeled Mental Health and Addictions will not get you access to the room)

- When you enter the lobby area, please take the stairs down to the lower level (basement)

- Turn left and head down the hallway to the end

- The Training Room doors are to the left (two doors)

Resources: Training materials will be provided by SASWH.

Lunch: Not provided; there is a cafeteria in Saskatoon City Hospital.

Parking: in hospital lot at daily rates.

SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED ON SITE FOR ANY VISITORS.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Attire: Please wear scrubs or loose fitting, comfortable clothing. All participants must wear shoes with closed toe and secure heel (no sandals or high-heeled shoes).

Candidates are asked to bring their own pens and paper, sticky notes/flags, highlighter(s), etc. as these items are not provided.
